Last seen
leaving Edinburgh Castle, our favorite duo can be found trapesing along the
Royal Mile ducking into one tchotchke shop after another on their way to find a
quick bite before trying to hook up with the Templeshifs for maybe a cocktail
in town or just a trip back to the dock.
Meanwhile
Chucky is on a mission to find just the right Royal Stewart Kilt for his
God-Daughter to go along with the Tam O’Shanter cap and Sash…
OK, so She's the only little girl that HE & DL will get to pick out cloths for, it seems
that HER side of the family only produces boys.
Truth be told, if SHE were presented with a proper Grand-Daughter there
would be no end to the spoiling.
Alas, he hasn’t
gotten sizes back from Ava Grace’s mom so the hunt is in vain… so far. But If you know Chucky, he WILL find the right
fit before he lands back in A’Dam. You
can count on it.
Time to
find a bite and of course that requires wandering and menu studies and more
wandering etc., etc.
Until…
they stumble on The
Mitre Bar whose menu looks suspiciously like the Rose Street Brewery from
yesterday, and lo and behold, IS part of the Nicholson’s
Ale & Gin Establishments, Pubs of Distinction Since 1873 - famous throughout the U.K. - of which there are 8 in Edinburgh alone.
This time
no Haggis Neeps & Tatties, but Chucky has to try that Beef Pie thingy the
girls shared yesterday [Slow-cooked Beef, Amber Ale and Mushroom Pie] and she went for the Fish ‘n’ Chips, Washed down with a particularly soothing house IPA.
Time to
check in with the Templeshifs who advise they are at the very end of the Royal
Mile [Chucky assumes is the East end] and invites them to meet up at the
Pub. Lenny, who is actually at the West
end decides it’s in the opposite direction, to far to back track and is already
settling into a little dive mid-way to the West. So they decide to meet up later.
As he pays
the check for the most excellent meal – great quality control considering the
number of units this outfit has – Chucky tries one more time to see if they can hook
up with the T's as they walk west on the Mile. Finally
getting a handle on where D&L are, he advises that they are just a couple
blocks away and will meet them at the corner of High Street [the real name of the Royal Mile] and Cockburn [the same
winding street they came up yesterday from Waverly Bridge] where D&L have
to catch their HoHo bus back to the Pier.
10
minutes later the Templeshifs appear and We4 proceed to wander down Cockburn
into this shop then that looking for… more tchotchkes’, and a Kilt for Ava
Grace. And of course Chucky is striking
out again [still no Waist Size from Lori Ann, [well seriously... it's just 9AM in Hollywood], and Chucky wants to get it right
since there ain't gonna be an EXCHANGE slip for this one.
As the
day was getting long, they decided to head for their respective bus stops. Waverly Bridge for the T’s HoHo bus and... Remember
yesterday Chucky only bought a 1 day ticket because of the Tour today, whereas
the T’s bought a 2 day pass and since Chucky and DL elected to NOT take the
tour bus back they had to catch the #11 bus from George Street, a few blocks
north.
As they
approached the HoHo stop who do they find standing by the bus to the pier but
the Delightful Sarah of Majestic Tours who sold them their tickets the day before and who assumed
they were all still together welcoming them to hop on as the bus was about
to leave. Not wanting to embarrass her
[spell that Cheapo Chucky was happy to get the free ride and not hike another 1/2 mile to the #11 bus stop] they hopped on, headed
to the top front window seats and settled in.
Lovely
ride back to the Pier where – and forgive the Faux Pas of yesterday - this was
the day the boys struck out for more water, the long wait in the gusty wind
and bumpy splashy ride back to the ship.
Yesterday was the smooth ride.
You must forgive
HIM, these POST are written days behind the actual date reported and as he advised
in the very first post PRELUDE TO YET ANOTHER NOWAT that the timeliness of
posts would depend on his down time,
speed of internet service, his mood, the amount of Scotch consumed that day...
etc. And since each night has involved the ritual of Happy Hour in the Schooner Bar before dinner and Whatevah after...
OK… OK…
you get it, these will all be LATE.
That said, this got longer than planned so a short Part 3 will
wrap up Edinburgh Day 2.
Time for Happy Hour.
Ciao 4 Now

I'm with you at every step... We're having fun here with Donald Jr.'s emails. So... When you return, the questions will be things like
ReplyDelete"Were you wearing a blue tie or a red tie when you agreed to entice and collude with the Russians?"
"Did you eat bacon and eggs or only yogurt that day you agreed to illegally conspired to violate the US Constitution, as you have already describe?"
"Wouldn't you have rather been in Scotland with Uncle Chuck?"
